UI/UX Designer

We’re hiring a UI/UX designer in Melbourne, Australia.

We’re a startup based in Carlton, near The University of Melbourne.

It is really important for us to get the user's experience right. We're running into many design challenges and as our first dedicated designer, you will take the lead on solving them. In addition, you'll collaborate with the founders and our customers to craft how the site should work.

We want someone who’s analytical about the design process. We have an extremely smart and productive team working on some big problems, and our goal is to find the next Ryan Singer to complete it.

YOU

You understand the underlying principles of good design. Most people may not be able to say what makes design good, even if they can recognise it. You can say what makes design good. You'll share insights with us about interaction, usability, layout, colours, and typography.

You can also do good design. You need to be comfortable working in HTML5 and CSS3, have a good understanding of what’s possible with Javascript, and know or be willing to learn git. If you don't have graphic design skills yourself, you'll create and manage a relationship with an external illustrator.

Full-time is preferable; part-time is possible. We're flexible about when you work, so long as you get things done. We'd also consider a paid internship.

IT

Our first product is a web/email app that makes it way easier to write documents with other people. It automatically tracks who does the work and any changes that are made, without requiring people to change how they currently do things.

People tell us it's kind of magical.

We need a designer who can let the magic out.
